Research evidence for the effect of hypnosis on pain

Some people ask if hypnosis for the management of pain is evidence based. I maintain this page of links to research papers that demonstrate that it is. Don't take my word for it. I must express my indebtedness to Professor Mark P. Jensen of The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington Medical Centre for his excellent and extensively referenced book "Hypnosis for Chronic Pain Management" Oxford University Press 2011, which I heartily recommend to anyone interested in this fascinating subject.
